What does a 25-kilometre trail say about a city? In Port Coquitlam, the Traboulay PoCo Trail offers a way to read the landscape at walking or cycling speed. The route circles the community, changing character as it passes residential areas, green corridors and waterside stretches.

The trail was renamed in 2001 for Len Traboulay, Port Coquitlam’s thirteenth mayor. He served for 19 years, and the name keeps a local public servant in everyday conversation. You do not need to complete the whole loop to appreciate it: choose a manageable segment, bring a friend and watch how the city changes from block to block.

For a first visit, check the City’s trail map and any current notices before setting out. Pick your distance, dress for the weather and give cyclists and walkers room to share the path. The best part may be finding a familiar neighbourhood from an unfamiliar angle.
